Lucy Bignell BSc FIA

Associate and Senior Consulting Actuary

Lucy is an Actuary and the primary contact for trustees and sponsors across a number of UK pension schemes.

Her role involves a blend of consultancy, technical modelling, and project management, in order to support clients on a wide range of actuarial issues and overall scheme management.

Her main area of expertise is actuarial consultancy – primarily the valuation of pension scheme liabilities and associated advice on funding and benefits.

Lucy works with trustees and sponsors of defined benefit (DB) pension schemes ranging in size from £30m to £400m. Her clients also include a complex hybrid scheme and schemes which are open to future accrual, which provide opportunities for varied and exciting work.

Lucy also works closely with investment, administration, and governance teams (both internally and externally) to ensure that clients receive a high-quality and consistent overall service. In particular, this relates to the alignment of long-term funding and investment strategies and support with member communications and queries.

In addition to supporting clients, Lucy leads the Birmingham Actuarial Consulting team, which involves managing workflow, supporting individuals, and monitoring overall performance.
