Fiona advises trustees and sponsors of UK defined benefit (DB) pension schemes on a wide range of actuarial issues. Fiona is also a risk transfer specialist, focussing on bulk annuities.
Fiona provides Scheme Actuary advice to several schemes, including schemes in the not-for-profit sector and schemes sponsored by public and private limited companies. Her client base comprises schemes ranging in size from under £10 million to over £500 million, including three independent schools and a co-operative society. A number of Fiona’s schemes remain open to accrual.
Fiona’s areas of expertise include scheme funding, PPF levy mitigation and accounting disclosures.
Fiona is also a member of our risk transfer team, helping schemes to secure transactions with insurance companies in the form of buy-ins and buy-outs.
Significant experience:
- Advising trustees on Scheme Actuary matters, including supporting valuation negotiations with sponsors.
- Working collaboratively with third-party administrators and sponsors’ HR teams to provide a joined-up service.
- Providing advice on complex PPF levy mitigation options, including deficit reduction contributions and asset backed contributions.
- Advising sponsors on accounting for pension schemes.
- Working with insurers to secure bulk annuity transactions for a range of schemes.
Other expertise:
Fiona enjoyed a three-month secondment to one of the UK’s largest pension schemes (around £55 billion), acting as a link between actuarial and administration operations.
