Alex is Managing Partner with responsibility for our pension schemes and investment services.
Having joined Barnett Waddingham in 2004, Alex is dedicated to ensuring all our client-facing people, systems and services operate with integrity and to the highest standards. Through his leadership, these principles guide the business and keep our services aligned with our long-term strategic aims.
Working with business area leaders and Management Board, Alex applies his in-depth understanding of the pensions market to identify existing challenges and opportunities, providing our clients with a unique and independent offering. To support this, Alex chairs a number of boards within the business.
Clients
Alex’s appointments have included working on some of the largest pension schemes in the UK, including several well-known, large master trusts and a number of standalone schemes. His DC experience incorporates scheme sizes from £1 million up to £20 billion+ and with membership into the millions of members. In addition, Alex has had a number of appointments to DB schemes, ranging in size of up to £1 billion. This range of experience enabled him to tailor solutions to schemes with varying governance needs and to share best practice across both DB and DC clients.

- Managing, monitoring, and reviewing business operations
- Maintaining long-lasting client relationships and driving the creation and delivery of new services
- Developing and implementing goals, procedures and policies in line with organisational values
- Chairing the board of BW SIPP LLP
- Advising scheme managers/trustees on DC scheme design taking account of individual scheme circumstances/constraints
- Advising DC master trusts on strategy, scheme design and governance
- Investment strategy work including the design and implementation of de-risking frameworks
- Design and implementation of LDI strategies, including trigger-based implementation approaches, for large and small clients
