Our Public Sector team have been named 'Consultant / Actuary of the Year' at the 2024 Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Investment Awards.

Held to recognise excellence across the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) community, the LGC Investment Awards celebrate the teams and individuals that drive the LGPS forward in an ever-changing environment.

The judges were impressed by our client-first approach, wherein each fund is treated individually, resulting in bespoke outcomes that match their preferences and objectives. Our fund specific valuation approach reduces the risk of both volatile funding positions and insufficient assets, balancing the needs of funds and their participating employers.

We have also created a range of in-house developed systems and tools that can support our clients to make decisions with confidence. This includes Enlighten, our digital education platform for LGPS professionals.

"We’re thrilled to have won this award, in recognition of our people-first approach to supporting our clients. Our team strive to ensure our clients always feel supported, going to great lengths to understand the individual needs of each of our LGPS clients, fostering long-term relationships and providing innovative solutions to the challenges they face. This award is a great testament to everyone’s efforts over the last year."
Melanie Durrant Partner and Public Sector Consulting Actuary, Barnett Waddingham

The award caps off a busy few weeks for the team, following on from the Chancellor's Autumn Budget and subsequent Mansion House speech which put a big spotlight on the future of the LGPS. Several members of our Public Sector team recently joined a webinar to discuss the impacts of the Mansion House speech.
