Barnett Waddingham welcomes experienced actuary to Public Sector team
We are pleased to announce the appointment of experienced actuary, Barry McKay, as a new associate in the public sector team.
Barry will provide pensions advice and risk management solutions to LGPS (Local Government Pension Schemes) clients - supporting them to meet their objectives. He will be responsible for, and fund actuary to, a number of LGPS funds. His remit includes developing the strategy of the public sector consulting practice, identifying needs of the LGPS market and developing solutions to LGPS technical issues to ensure clients get optimal outcomes.
Barry joins the business after 22 years at Hymans Robertson, where he was head of the LGPS actuarial practice. He has significant experience in the industry and was previously fund actuary to a number of LGPS funds, including Greater Manchester, the largest LGPS fund in the UK.
"Barnett Waddingham has achieved outstanding success and growth in recent years, resulting in investment and development of efficient technology to support and deliver an exceptional service to clients. Even though Barnett Waddingham has grown significantly, our structure allows us to adapt, be flexible, and keep the culture of the firm - which is so important.
I am very impressed with the culture and feel of the firm. I am looking forward to helping continue this success and working with public sector clients to develop innovative but pragmatic solutions needed as the LGPS continues to evolve.”
