Property investment in a pension scheme’s portfolio
Property has long been a component of pension scheme portfolios as a long-term investment and diversifier from equity portfolios, however it has fallen out of favour in recent years as returns have been poor following the crash in property prices that started in 2007. Is there a case for schemes to return to stand-alone property holdings, or does the lack of liquidity and large investment size mean that they are best advised to stay clear?
